What is E-Day?

E-Day is an exhilarating new adventure that plunges you directly into the heart of an engineering student’s life. However, this isn't your ordinary engineering experience, because this time, the stakes are intergalactic.

Imagine waking up one day to find your professor, the one person who is solely responsible for proctoring your impending examinations, mysteriously abducted by aliens. Now, imagine being the only one capable of rescuing them. That’s the reality for Qwerty, our tenacious protagonist, who’s about to face a challenge that’s light-years away from their usual assignments. E-Day is a thrilling fusion of galactic exploration and earth-bound academia, a unique concoction that is solemnly not seen anywhere else.

Qwerty’s world is a fractured landscape reminiscent of a time when things were simpler, overrun now with unpredictable alien encounters, and complex challenges that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Not to worry though, because Qwerty isn’t alone in this cosmic quest. With them is an innovative gadget, a handy-dandy grappling hook made out of parts and knickknacks lying around their dorm room. This new grappling hook is not just Qwerty’s tool, but also their guide, and their weapon, all rolled into one.

You may find yourself wondering, what exactly is the motive of these extraterrestrials? What is it about Earth, and in particular, Qwerty's university, that draws them to invade? The answer lies in a stray lecture recording on animal biology, unintentionally broadcasted into the vastness of the cosmos. This recording was unfortunately intercepted by the nefarious and malevolent Beelzebufo, and he doesn’t particularly like the erroneous statements made by the professor that confuse amphibians and reptiles.

 Post-Mortem

What went right?

  • Very good team dynamics
  • We nailed the movement mechanic that we strived for since the beginning
  • Good splitting of work, we used everyone's strengths
  • Effective workflow and version control with Github
  • Itterative improvement of vision for the game, mechanics and level design

What went wrong?

  • The incentive for our points system never got through
  • We would loved to have more variation with our transition levels
  • Intro story cutscenes and before credit cutscenes would have been the cherry on top

What could we do better next time?

  • Start earlier to polish the game
  • Have more in person meetings
